This is the studio that built 16 Ton’s reputation as one of the best studios in the country. The classic Hidley designed control room features our world famous Dymaxion console with ATC 150 SLC monitors for the perfect playback. Number 1 is the perfect place to throw down rock solid tracks and it’s not bad to look at either! Gettin’ Heavy? Oh, yeah! Legendary Producer and Engineer, Eddie Kramer calls Studio 1, “Bloody Fantastic!” We think you’ll feel the same!
Ok. So you wanna, “Get Back?” Studio 2 is your ticket to ride! This is our new addition that’s all about old school. From our classic API 2055, formerly of RCA Studio B to the Altec based tube console from the legendary Petty Studios in Clovis, NM, this space is draped in the Golden Age of Rock n’ Roll! Number 2 features classic gear hand-picked by Norman Petty, who was one of the greatest studio engineers of the 1950’s and ‘60’s. Classic tracks like “Peggy Sue” and “That’ll Be The Day” by Buddy Holly, “Ooby, Dooby” by Roy Oribison and “Party Doll” from Buddy Knox, were all tracked at Norman’s little studio. These recordings changed the course of rock ‘n roll and heavily influenced a little group from Liverpool, England called…The Beatles. So…feel like recording you project on Buddy Holly’s tape machine or a vintage Ampex 300? This is the place. Rave On, baby!
